Joomla in Marathi

Post by senthilthyagu » Thu Feb 04, 2010 6:35 am

Hi All,

We want to make a Joomla website with two languages i.e English and Marathi.I have got the Marathi language pack and installed it and even made it default. The thing with this is when I write the content in English it shows me English in the front end and if use Devanagari (thanks to the plugin which can be installed for tinymice) the front end shows "???????????"

My requirements are have a menu tab in top corner where the user can select either of the languages English/Marathi.

Any help on this will be appreciated.

Regards,
Senthil Thyagarajan

Hi,

Welcome to the forum!

Just set database Collation to utf8_unicode_ci. And then you can see proper Marathi text. You can change easily change collation with the help of phpMyAdmin.

Also for your other request regarding language menu tab, please check this module - http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions ... tent/10943

Hopefully this should work.

Let me know...

The problem of "??????" is because of collation. Change your database collation to utf8_general_ci through phpMyAdmin and your problem will be solved. I struggled to get the answer but now this solution is working. This needs to be done especially on jos_contents table
