I would suggest using the Language Override in the Language Manager to alter or add any untranslated strings. It is a much easier approach.

I want a better solution so that I can use the language at more than one site.

I am not aware of .ini file translation.

The .ini files are much better than .po/.mo files in the sense that the .ini files used for the language files are just text files with UTF-8 BOM encoding. So, you can type the text directly in the files. All you need is a text editor such as NotePad++ that supports the encoding.

You could also review the extension Localise (http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions ... tion/17755) for its suitability to your need.

Suggest checking with the Hindi language Translation Coordinator (http://community.joomla.org/translation ... html#hi-in) about the availability of the Hindi language pack for Joomla! 3.x.
