Update on the Hindi translation

Post by Vish » Fri Sep 30, 2005 7:06 am

As of now there is only one file that needs to be translated that will basically cover the front end. I have almost finished 60% of the work. Since it is only one file, I think it better be handled by one person for integrity purpose. I will be releasing the file formally here on Monday for QA. Thats when I would require your all input.

Romil and mediawiward:

Just want to give you heads up on that. I will be releasing the hindi front end on Monday 12:00 AM PST. It would be great if you can read through the file and look for grammatical/spelling etc errors in it. If you have a testing server of your own, please go ahead and test it.

It will be great if you guys can check for the quality of the work and suggest modification.
If you need my help or have any questions at any time please let me know.

Thanks for the heads-up Vish!

I can test it on one of my live sites, however, why not put it on Joomla India Dev server?

Thanks and looking forward to the first release!

I will be definitely doing it on the dev server but my idea was that if we can do it on a different server, that will be nice. Also, idea is that if you guys can read through the file and see if it is grammatically correct and it makes sense.

Sounds good Vish, will also allow me to translate the marathi / gujarati front end.

Eventually you were saying we need to do the back end as well as the help files right?

I would be happy to test on mumbaimart.com , is there any front module for changing languages?
or can Joomla! handle only one language per install for now?

That is correct.

No. Not that I am aware of. I have been changing languages at the back end.
If you want, I would encourage you to create a login for yourself at joomlaindia.org. I will escalate the login you use
to admin privilidges so that you can play with the backend. That is if you need to. As of now, the back end is english only.

I am not sure. I would think that it should be possible to change the language from front end, but I have not seen anything like this so far.

OK. I have to get back to translation....
