Install Joomla first, bridge it later?

Post by LeeroyBrown » Sun Oct 16, 2005 4:11 am

I run a site that has heavy vBulletin traffic, and would like to use Joomla for our CMS.

I'm hesitant to use vBridge before we fully test Joomla on our servers and check on integration issues.

As I'm naive with Joomla and vBridge, I want to know if I can set-up our site using Joomla, beta-test it for a while and at a later date, incorporate vBridge without affecting whatever we've set-up in Joomla.

one way to get familiar with Joomla! is to run a copy locally.

MSAS

MSAS is mambo stand alone server.
it works with Joomla

ie.

You can play with Joomla to your heart's content and then upload it when you are ready.

Thanks.  :)

If I want to run Joomla on our production server as a beta for guests, can I do that and then later integrate with vBridge without losing any of our Joomla set-up?

Yeah, you should be able to run it as say, "http://yoursite.com/mambo" and link your admins, mods, sm's and dedicated members there so they can test it for you? Then you can just move it to the root directory when you feel It's bug-free?
