[IMPLEMENTED] UTF8?

Post by quo » Wed Aug 01, 2007 12:28 pm

Hello Joomla! team,

Have a question: what about UTF-8 encoding in Joomla? Will it be supported?

Thank you.

No worries,
It wasn't bogus question...
Most of the marketing materials are describing Joomla 1.0X which is not UTF-8 compliant.

One of the major goals of the 1.5 framework was to make the conversion over the UTF-8 which is why the migration procedures from 1.0X to 1.5 are so complicated compared to normal upgrades and patches. Also why some components written for J1.0X are not compatible with J1.5 at this point in time...

I guessing that you need UTF-8 for some language purposes and so yes J1.5RC would be the version you want. I don't know how soon your site needs to be up and we have cautioned people to not use the beta on a live production server but I feel an RC is stable enough to start developing for if you need those features.

Hello,

Thank you for your reply. Yes, i need UTF8 for adding multilingual contents to my site. However, i can wait until Joomla! 1.5 goes into stable phase.

-Regards
