Request to have choice of H tag for titles

Post by Designer72 » Mon Jul 24, 2006 3:40 pm

One feature that really should be added is the ability to choose which kind of H tag you want to have for your titles of content and modules. I code the h1 tag into my template for consistancy for SEF, but if content throws another h1 tag in then I get dropped lower in the search engines for not having correctly written tags (only 1 h1 tag per page). I have hacked Joomla! before to drop it to an h2 tag instead, but I don't like hacking core files because of upgrade issues. Depending on where it in and what else is on the page I may even want it to be an h3 tag, which I just hide the title and put it into content.

Another thing to think about is for accessibilty you may want to think about having titles do a display: none instead of not going into code at all. This would allow screen readers to know what is coming up in all parts of the site. I created a module suffix to do this, but would be nice to have it be part of Joomla.
