Hacked com_content from the latest Joomla version. This hack allows you to delete items on the frontend, since i don't want my site moderators to be looking at the backend. 

All hacked portions are commented for your convenience. I also changed the edit icon placement since i want it aligned with the titles for a cleaner look. A javascript alert is integrated on the delete link, for a confirmation if you really want to delete the item (e.g. Are you sure?) and a post confirmation (e.g. Successfully deleted..).

It works perfectly but when I've installed Opensef, it changed the link of the delete button...
Any idea...

HUmm, I have tried this hack,  but it does not seem to work.

I am useing 1.011 and my content plugin.

It just seems to remove the normal edit option from the tile bar?

Any clues cus this is really what I am after

Hi everyone. Thanks for appreciating this hack. If you can't get this working, please check the version... i posted this hack almost a year ago FEB 02, 2006 so it's not surprising if it doesn't work on you. I'll check the new version for possible better hacks.

Did you have a look at the hack for Joomla! 1.5.X? I investigated the feasibility of a similar hack yesterday on Joomla! 1.5. Now, some people advocate that hacking Joomla! core is a bad idea (compatibility and updating, portability, security). I tend to agree with it in principle.

I came across a plugin hack hack that would load a custom com_content component but it does not quite work (http://community.joomla.org/blogs/commu ... -html.html)

At the moment I go for a template override (though I think it does not make sense from a logical point of view - this is a "template" override system - from a cross template point of view - no every one works with one template-). I thought calling an instance of com_trash from the admin side could be a secure approach. However, com_trash comes with security and if I bypass it, I'm better off creating a custom com_trash on the site side or just go for pure sql in the override.

Do you have any views on that?
Does anyone have ideas on that?
