in step one where do I place the code? what is a child node of the node? I see no reference to nodes in the code. Can I just put the code at the bottom of the page? any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there,

I can't seem to find this path: administrator/components/com_menus/component_item_link/component_item_link.xml in my Joomla 1.5. Mine only have admin/components/banners/contact s/newsfeed/polls/search/weblinks.

Here is my site http://www.citywidecleaning.co.uk

How can get around this.

In Joomla 1.5 you can use the Page title field in your menu item to change the title to anything you like.

What does that have to do with the custom title hack?
Please open your own topic and explain what you are trying to do and what your problem is.

Hi ooffick,

I know that 1.5 is supposed to allow me to use the Page Title field in the menu component under the systems tag - but for some reason its not working. What is also interesting is that the home page only shows the sitename in the title tag no matter what I put for the "Page title" you can see what I mean here:
http://www.[s]u[r]gi[map].com
(only with out the brackets - I put those in so the site would not show up in search engines - sorry about that, but my clients are sticklers)

thanks for any help.

So what do you have in the page title field for the default menu item? Moreover, you have some cookie driven redirection in place which might have something to do with that as well.

S[ur]gi[map] - without brackets is the default site name in the global config. The frontpage menu item has a Page Title of S[ur]gi[map] Sp[in]e Medical Imaging Software

Somewhere a default page title must be set to the sitename because it always shows up even when I check
$mydoc =& JFactory::getDocument();
$mytitle = $mydoc->getTitle();
echo $mytitle;
in the template above jdoc include="head"

??

Try to disable your splash screen, and see if the problems remains.
