phpbb login module

Post by garoboldy » Sat Oct 08, 2005 3:30 pm

ok I got the phpbb_bridge from developer.joomla site the guy has it where its a component and installs in into mambo 4.5.2 which should work with joomla so ok.  well there is a phpbb_login  module that the thing needs and for some reason he didnt include in the files nor on the project pages.

does anyone know anything about this.  For some reason I cannot find any other bridge that doesnt have posts deleted or no one working on it.  I really dont want to switch to smf due to all the content I have in phpbb and no converter is out that I now of that will pull everything into smf.

I really hope someone here has some insight into this, I am supposed to get this conversion/integration done this weekend but its not looking too good if this cant get fixed.
;)

I really need the ability to integrate the joomla 1.03 database with phpbb 2.0.1.7 database, but be able to keep the files/formatting seperate.  I have been working with mambo for days now and I am think I may switch to joomla.  I have read hundreds of pages about integration, but cannot find onw that seems to work.  I used the one from tim-online for mambo 4523, but it totally screwed up all formatting on my forums.  I need to integrate the 2 and import all of my phpbb users and posts.

Can anyone tell me what is the best route and where I can download the code to do it?  I am very confused.

THere's an option to run the forum in a separate window, but keep the integration with joomla.
If you've installed it allready, you can find this in /components/com_forum/config.php else it's an option during installation.

$run_as_component = true;
will run the forum inside joomla
$run_as_component = false;
will run outside joomla

The link to the forum for an outside forum is site.com/index2.php?option=com_forum

I set that option to false, but when i click the forum button, it still has it integrated with formatting in bad shape.

How did you create that menu link? What are you clicking on exactly and what happends if you click any link on the forum itself?

If you're running outside joomla, you can't create a menuitem of the type 'Component'. You'll have to use the url type.

Sorry for my lack of clarity.  I installed your component for phpbb and the login module into mambo 4523.  Since I have had many problems with the format of the phpbb being unusable since the integration, I have now built a joomla 103.  With the 103, I have used some mods to the registration files so that it will create users for both tables when someone registers or makes a profile change in joomla.  I have also written a script to import all of my phpbb users into joomla.  My issue now is that I need to be able provide one login from joomla that works for both joomla and phpbb.  I do not want my users to have to login to 2 different places.

Sorry for the confusion.  I have been working on these CMS's for a couple days now and have gotten a bit confused myself.  I have now installed/configured like 6 different installations.  My latest is joomla 103.
