Best way to integrate legacy phpBB forum into Joomla

Post by 2mino » Wed Aug 14, 2013 8:27 pm

hi
i have Backup and upgrade First, migrate from joomla! 1.0 to 1.5 then from 1.5 to 2.5.
What is the best way to integrate a legacy phpBB forum into a new Joomla site?

Basically I want to keep the navigation links (top and main menu), and embed the forum as pages in the site.

Is this feasible?

Try jFusion it's free

Make sure you back everything up; directories and database before you try it.

If that fails you may want to try AlterBrains but it's $60 for the version that integrates.

There's also RokBridge but it does not integrate into Joomla as part of the site; it just bridges the databases.

I looked for the same thing a while back and to be honest, I had issues with jFusion. It was a known bug, but that was v1.7.7. Hopefully they fixed it with 1.8.4. I ended up buying AlterBrains. I had an issue getting it work and support fixed it pretty promptly. Haven't had any issues since.
