Identify Yourself!

Post by Joomlasticman » Sat Apr 08, 2006 3:47 pm

To succesfully operate a web design business, you must either hire many people or wear many hats. Since you probably won't start out with a full staff of people, you will need to use your gift of gab to sell your services while keeping those pencil sharpened to make sure the business expenses are met and simultaneously pondering the scripts to design the web sites. While carrying out your various roles you may decide that the euphemism of "changing costumes" sounds much better than "having multiple personalities", although on some days the difference may seem slight.

Imaginary "costumes" can help you understand the five major behaviour traits you will need in your Web design business. In the computer arena, the popular name for the personality traits are:

1. The propeller-head: This trait is symbolized by a beanie hat with a propeller on top. you wear your propeller hat when you are working with the code and scripts of a web site.

2. The Ponytail: This is the costume of the creative artist working with the graphics and layout of a Web site.

3. The Rainmaker: You put on this costume when you need to stir up a storm of costumers.

4. The Green Visor Cap: Sharpen your pencil, and calculate how to turn your flood of customers into "Mucho Dinero!"

5. The Suit: This allows you to become the wise businessperson who makes the tough decisions to guide your business to meet your goals.

Which "costume" do you wear???

As for me, I am not a code slinger but i can do some "nose jobs" on some of the templates that I bought. Most of the time, I hire a propeller head! I wear the Ponytail a lot, am a rainmaker sometimes but not much of the Green Visor Cap - I'm a big spender  and a template Junkies! and the suit? hmmm I will decide later. ;)

The propeller-head and The Suit is for me.  Though I never wore a proper-head and only as far as I can remember wore a suit for 3 to 5 occassions. ???
