JoomlaXplorer: Fatal error: Call to a member function... / Legacy mode?

Post by new_to_cms » Mon Mar 05, 2007 4:20 pm

During install of JoomlaXplorer (1.6.0):

Fatal error: Call to a member function setQuery() on a non-object in /home/>/public_html/cms_trunk/administrator/components/com_joomlaxplorer/install.joomlaxplorer.php on line 13

Is this a JoomlaXplorer bug or has it something to do with legacy mode (supposed here: http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic ... #msg699348)?

Would it be possible to create a version which doesn't need legacy mode at all (before J! 1.5 is released)?

Im not saying this to be negitive because I think joomla is awesome but JoomlaXplorer is nothing but trouble and should be banned.I used it for a simple banner replacement and guess what.I had to do a 100% site reinstall.Its bad news IMO,It changes file permissions on your site and the only way to fix it is to email or call your host and have them fix it.

Best regards

I've had the same types of errors using different third-party extensions which are not compatible with joomla 1.5.
It's often a problem of a certain object not being instantiated.

In you case, a solution could be to add this line before line 13 in your install.joomlaexplorer.php:

Code: Select all

$database = JFactory::getDBO();
@devs: correct me if this is not the right way to solve such kind of problems ...
