[FIXED]RC4 timezone and publishing dates

Post by jckruger » Thu Dec 20, 2007 12:13 am

Hi,

I Posted yesterday about some errors with the timezone and publishing date issues. I just downloaded RC4 and it seems to have the same issue. When I set the timezone in the administrative back end to my current timezone it seems to add or subtract from what my actual timezone is. An example being my PC set to 1:00am 20-12-2007 if I set the global config to UTC + 10 (my current timezone) and then create a new article it shows that it was created at 11:00am 20-12-2007

I've attached a document with screen shots to explain better what I am experiencing (Sorry I had to break it down to 4 parts as the attachment was too large.

I hope this can be addressed soon as I am in the process of starting a website for a not-for-profit animal rescue group

Cheers

Justin

I can confirm that I am seeing similar issues with my install.

This thread should probably be moved to the development forum as I don't think it can be addressed properly here.

I'll try to draw this to someone's attention who can take the appropriate action...

Thanks kgonyea,

I actually did post in the Development section asking that it be moved there.
Good to see that it isn't just me having the trouble.

Cheers

Justin

I've been tearing my hair out for the last few hours on this one (chief looks for a cat to kick ... apologies to cat lovers).  The problem is in JDate failing trying to be a bit too smart for it's own good.  While it will take a local datetime and convert it to GMT, it will also try and convert valid GMT times that are passed to it.  It doesn't matter what you set the TZ offset to it fouls up in some fashion.

We're working problem.

I think it's fixed in SVN now.  Can you please test.  Thanks.

I posted questions about this earlier in the week. Maybe these threads could be merged?
http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,243810.0.html

gmmktime has a bug in PHP versions previous to 5.1.0 and the preg_match for the MySQL Datetime is failing.

JDate is also applying both the server offset and the gloabl config offset, which could very well be different for some users, to an already local date.

I just checked in the latest build (9688) and this issue is not fixed.

I've already posted this bug 10 days ago in this ( http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,242011.0.html ) thread!

Can anyone show me how to fix this bug as well without converting my RC4 site into an SVN site. Just need to know which files to modify and which parts if possible.

The bug being not fully fixed yet, one has to wait.

Fixed in SVN.

Since then, Hackwar and Kevin worked together to come up with a really good solution. Because of the code freeze and the need for testng it has not been put into the Svn, but I have been using and and found no problems at all.

You can obtain a replacement from Hackwar's post here:
