JED team meeting 8 November 2019

Thank you, @anibalsanchez, for providing us with the minutes of the JED team meeting on 8-Nov-2019. A few quick observations/comments:

Attendance

While it's pleasing that the JED team includes several OSM Board of Directors members, only one of the board members attended the meeting. Three key members—the OSM vice-president, secretary and head of operations—were not present.

Attendance

We are honored to have several board members as part of our JED Team. However, they are part of the support team and they don't attend as board members. To check their activity as board members, please check the board meetings reports: https://volunteers.joomla.org/board-of-directors

We are all volunteers and board members are regular people like us, so it is not nice to be being watched at every step. That's a nasty habit that frequently forces them to step down and discourage participation in community projects. Please, refrain from using our team reports beyond what they are intended to (communicate the directory work).

Thanks. I didn't mean to imply that JED team members who are also OSM board members would be adversely scrutinised but they do wear two hats and there may be a conflict of interest if they're both recommending a plan and also, later, approving that same plan. Just saying.

The survey began four months ago. Surveys should not take too long to run; online surveys, surely, should not run for more than a couple of weeks. I'm a bit concerned that the JED team's plans are predicated on a survey that—from your reply—has not yet concluded. I think it's premature to base the team's plans on preliminary input to a survey without knowing the final outcome of that survey. Perhaps you might like to remind Hugh about this and ask him to provide us with his report.

I'm Ok with the current practices. We are collaborating actively with the project, doing our best in the available time, and focusing our positive energy on the project progress.
