Re: JED 3 Contract Announcement
Har har.
We had a few design meetings last week that went well.
The JED Team has implemented the JIRA project management system. Combined with Bitbucket, Bamboo for CI and HipChat it will be a good tool for us long term even after this project is finished.
Hats off to Atlassian for providing an account for opensource projects.
Fabrik has lots of tasks and to-do's in there with good progress so far.

Re: JED 3 Contract Announcement

Good to hear the progress and will be great to see more of it come J and Beyond in a few months time.
Thats really good to hear that Atlassian
We use Bamboo, JIRA, Bitbucket and Stash in our business and workflow here.
Would be really good if we can get our hands on JIRA for the rest of the project as well. (hint hint)

Re: JED 3 Contract Announcement
I can't see it on https://joomla.jira.com/secure/Dashboard.jspa - is it a private project? Just wondering long term, will the code be made available on Github?

Re: JED 3 Contract Announcement
https://joomlaextensionsdirectory.atlas ... board.jspa is our JIRA instance and once it's configured right you'll be able to see. Once the new system is finished we'll use JIRA for tracking changes, bugs etc.
Some of the code will be available down the road. Pretty much anything that doesn't involve any of the things we do to detect bad behavior. It won't be available on Github, we're using Bitbucket.

Re: JED 3 Contract Announcement
Any news on this Matt? The JED's current scoring algorithm is hurting our business and I'm hopeful that the new JED will resolve (to any degree) those problems.
The contract announcement said "Development will begin starting today with a target completion date for the second quarter of 2014." so with luck we'll be seeing some updates soon.

It must be paintfull that even for search ''Jomres'' in JED your Jomres component is somewhere behind 20th in row ...Vimes wrote:The JED's current scoring algorithm is hurting our business

It's not just that that bugs me, it's the algorithm that's used to score extensions. Take a look, for example at http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions ... ns/booking
As you can see, Jomres is lingering half-way down the list, giving the impression to users that it's inferior to systems like Icebooking (which doesn't appear to have been significantly updated for years) and some of my other competition which don't have a fraction of Jomres' features. This means that I've gotta pick up the pieces when users come to me because the competition's feature-set left something to be desired.
I've been complaining about this for 7 or 8 years, but to date nothing's been done. Meanwhile I watch extensions come onto the JED, go right to the top for two years (because of the stupid scoring system), then fall back off again because the developers got bored and abandoned them. All the while I worry about paying the rent for myself and the guys I work with, guys who're working damned hard, 5 days a week, to bring a great booking system to Joomla users. It's infuriating, is it any wonder that devs like me have to look to Wordpress to supplement our sales?

Re: JED 3 Contract Announcement
Joomla with state ''We are volunteers, so shut up'' just can not keep steps with competitors like WordPress and other systems which are progressive.
If you have view of situation, you will ''attack'' WordPress and aim it as priority. Otherwise you will become ''volunter'' who will talks about Joomla on Joomladays

That was one of my biggest complaints about the current system. The search algorithm should be a complete overhaul to make it fair for developers, especially the "original" developer of an extension, which currently sits at the end, if there are several 3rd party extensions for that main extension. That's not tolerated and will be fixed.

Hi FlashRebel, this is also a great question.
It is developed as a component and customizable for any type of Directory site, such as, a possible "Templates Directory" in the future.
I don't think it's available to the public and may be for xxxxx.joomla.org sites only.
But I guess that's not up to me and up to the JED manager or OSM as a whole.

Re: JED 3 Contract Announcement
Hi,
It would be interesting if you post some more facts about the nine participants that send their proposals and also why you choose Fabrik as the solution.
Just post the nine participants you choose from, their suggestions and 10 lines why you choose Fabrik.
Thats open source transparency.
All the best and hope this will be a great solution!
