Re: JED 3 Nearing Completion: Call for Beta Testers
Agreed. Seems like the new extensions have been locked for a month now because of the new JED. I very much appreciate the efforts being made here, but also want to make sure the JED doesn't feel abandoned.

Re: JED 3 Nearing Completion: Call for Beta Testers
Hey Guys,
Any update on JED3? Getting lots of emails of people wanting to post reviews on our extension but they can't and asking us if we know when they can.
Seems a bit strange to disable JED for a whole month?
Thanks
Tony

Why did he miss it ? Bc. it was messy everywhere and nowhere. In this case he missed nothing, Joomla missed his opinion and help.
Result is, that core Joomla, JED, Forum, Templates ... are in bad shape, outdated, no working at all or working worse than 5 years ago.
Even community not working well. If main contact email for trouble about forums and registration in community forum is no-repl@... something is wrong.

The Devs been great and if you'd bothered to get involved with the Beta testing I'm sure you would have had a chance to offer your wisdom during the process.

Re: JED 3 Nearing Completion: Call for Beta Testers
It's unfortunate that members of the various leadership groups within Joomla continue to fail to realize that listening and reflecting on what those who object to various approaches within Joomla are saying would better serve the project then sarcasm which is just thinly veiled hostility and unacceptable bullying.

Re: JED 3 Nearing Completion: Call for Beta Testers
Radek why are you attacking community people with different views/opinion/expression than yours ?
You are horrible example how leaders communicate with community in Joomla. Maybe you have coding skills and you probably did much for Joomla code, but with your style of communicating how you can be in Joomla social media team and Events Team co-leader ?
I don't use only nice words and my posts are critical too, but still not so stupid like yours! You represent official Joomla team.
This is forum, so community can express opinions and though here even if its critical. Why you attack someone just bc. he exists without any reaction to subject what he write about ?
If people like you will stay as leaders in Joomla and will continue to do what they do now, Joomla will change for outdated piece of code for hobbyists.
You as member of 3 teams of Joomla don't care that you are losing community ? or you don't feel it maybe ? Don't see how everything works ?
Even to check my posts in this forum took me about one hour when system was able to handle my request. This is problem! not that me or somebody else write critical post!

Re: JED 3 Nearing Completion: Call for Beta Testers
Hi everybody
Now it's been more than a month than the JED is closed (meaning no reviews can be posted or new extensions submitted).
I do understand the complexity of the JED3 project and fully appreciate all the work put in by the developers. But
When I read in the last update "We are down to 2 final show-stopping issues (submission process and review calculations) that are currently in-work being resolved", I wonder why the decision was made to close down the current site when these two critical functionality were not implemented or properly working?
If the submission process is broken, why even consider switching systems?
I hope you guys can come to a working solution soon, but if not maybe a rollback to the present system would be a better option than letting everything down.
Brgds
Jeff

Re: JED 3 Nearing Completion: Call for Beta Testers
Hi,
a number of us-located JED people were working for the new JED yesterday on a public holiday (Thanksgiving). When I was doing beta testing over a span of 6 weeks or so, I saw them working on: public holidays, weekends, late nights, early mornings, etc.
The current JED leadership is also the first in 5-6 years that has the guts to replace the entire working JED with something entirely new.
It's understandable then, when a comment like this pops in....
On the other hand, the guy who posted this comment had problems to catch up with the JED development over the past months.
Both "sides" are absolutely right:
- If you joined the community like 3 months ago, you really have a hard time to see what is going on. Joomla appears to be a black box that you simply can't join, even if you wanted to.
These people please go to:
http://volunteer.joomla.org
There you can register and contact the groups that match your interests and get things started.
(the volunteer portal is by the way an example of the black-box problem, even I couldn't find a link at joomla.org that points to it, but I guess that's on the plate of the volunteer team already)
- The volunteers at Joomla sometimes appear to me to be seen as "property" of the community that don't behave well and should be put back on the track as often as possible through unqualified comments. The reaction of Joomla team members to this is understandable, they are humans in the first place.
All in all we should work on removing the frontiers, quit thinking in "sides" like community vs. joomla leadership and everybody simply following the code of conduct:
http://www.joomla.org/about-joomla/the- ... nduct.html
Regards,
Markus

Re: JED 3 Nearing Completion: Call for Beta Testers
Maybe it would be good to do a weekly status update regularly so the community know what's going on?
The JED is very important for all Joomlers world wide. Everybody appreciate the hard work done and its difficult to set time delivery dates as always. And If this problem is not solved within a time frame maybe its better to keep the old working JED for a while.
Myself have not read the analysis about w h y the old JED should be changed and what new features/improvement this new JED will bring to the table?
Can anyone update me and post 5-6 arguments etc about the new new features improvements that the new JED will do, it would be appreciated.
rgds
Update 11 Nov 2014
We're stil working out some important issues and need to migrate images across. Current projected date of release: 19 Nov.
Update 24 Nov 2014
Data migration has been completed. We are down to 2 final show-stopping issues (submission process and review calculations) that are currently in-work being resolved. Once those have been fixed and tested we will announce a "pre-access" period for developers to login and update and submit new extensions.
