Post by axentmedia » Sat Oct 14, 2017 10:31 pm

Hello,

We submitted our extension to Joomla Extension Directory at least 2 months ago, but reviewers did not checked it yet, so please let us know how many days it takes to checking a new extensions on JED? How review system works in JED?

CodeCanyon published our extension after a few days we submitted the extension.

Makes one feel like there is a level of bias and favoritism at the JED. It's not just you, many other developers suffer the same delay. I submit extensions to the WP and Drup repos, and within a few days they are published. primarily because those systems have a proper business structure.

The JED possibly have people making decisions who in this 'support' forum have declared others as 'foe'. With that character, their decision will always favor those they 'like'.

This is the case with Wordpress as well. I was a regular contributor on WP forums until the moderator decided to put my posts on hold until he approves them. The reason was that I criticised him and I started posting links to 3rd party solutions which he disapproved. There was nothing wrong with the solutions but he wanted everything to be on WP forums.

I suspect Joomla is having the same problems. Some moderators won't like 3rd party extensions because they don't get any donations from them!! Me thinks so anyway but I know very little about how these glorified moderators are promoted here. Junta must be at work here.

I would have thought that Joomla as an organization would love to have as many deveopers as possible for its library of extensions but this isn't the case it seems.

I wanted to upgrade Protostar to Bootstrap 3.3.X some months ago but concluded that Joomla may not allow this so decided not to bother with it. Protostar is a very good basic template but it needs to be upgraded to use latest Bootstrap; The original creator of the template - Kyle Ledbetter - Can only work on it if he is paid to do. Even Angie Radtke hasn't released anything new since her work on Beez3.

Perhaps Joomla 4 will have a new basic template using Bootstrap 4 and Flex.

I think that Joomla should implement a business model like Envato.

This business model can helps both developers and Joomla improvement.

We are waiting for Joomla support team response on this post.

Same answer than in a related topic, quoting myself:
Hi,

The wait in the queue of new extensions is around 7 days. However, depending on the holidays and the available volunteers, it can go between 7-15 days.

If you have not received feedback, or you have any question about extension status, please, open a ticket under “New Listing Support” and include the new name for your listing. A member of the team will be glad to help you.

Best Regards,

We asked support team of Joomla by creating tickets but they did not respond to our tickets in a right way.

Our extension submitted at least two months later and we did not received any feedback yet!

I am attaching one of response that seems that you wrote for us on 29 Aug, but you did not review our extension yet!

Please let us know what should we do to Joomla approve our extension?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

We process the extensions and answer the tickets in the queue following a chronological order until the extension is approved or rejected. Which is your ticket number?

Hi,

I've answered both tickets on 8/29/17 5:14 PM and 8/29/17 5:46 PM.

The name of your extension doesn’t comply with the JED naming conventions - extension specific listings should have a name in the form “{Extension Name} for {Parent Extension}”.

P.S. Check the reply to your tickets for more details or the associated email.

Best Regards,
@anibal_sanchez - Former JED Team Leader.

First thank you for your response to this topic.

When we read your feedback to our ticket we thought that you are explaining review process to us, because you did not exactly told us our sub extensions have naming issue.
Hi, Thanks for reaching out!

We are processing the queue in the fastest possible that volunteers can answer.

Every extension must be checked, replied and followed until it is finally published or rejected.

We start the process with a simple name check (where many developers fail to name the JED entry like the installed extension) and we follow with several iterations on JED Checker output https://extensions.joomla.org/extension/jedchecker/. Finally, if we find discrepancies, we have to read the source code.

Overall, the whole process takes time. In order to better assist you, please do not submit multiple tickets per issue. Duplicate requests will slow down response time and may delay resolution. We recommend that you do not update tickets unless it is absolutely necessary. Updated tickets are automatically sent to the end of the processing queue.

This ticket has been moved to New Listing Support. If this ticket is duplicated, please, close it.

Best Regards,
Thanks.

Hi,

The original issue is about the extension name. Your extension name is "XX Stream". So, it looks like you are the owner of XX.

To these cases, we have the rule that the extension must be named "Stream for XX". In this way, it clearer that your extension is referring to a parent extension.

Please, remember to perform a checkup with JED Checker, before re-submitting the extension with a new ticket (also asking to rename it).

No we are not owner of "Easy Social" and it is just a name to notify users that this extension is an easy to use extension!

We checked it with JED checker before submitting it already and it accepts this name.

Please let me know "Easy Social Stream" is OK for our extension?

I think that our sub extensions have naming issues now, and we should use "Extension name for Easy Social Stream" for example "Library for Easy Social Stream", am I right?

Thanks in advance

Hi,

In my opinion, the name for your extension should be "Stream for Easy Social" ... if there's a library, it could be "Stream Library for Easy Social".

No I should explain that "Easy Social" is not our product and our extension streams data from popular social networks like Facebook, Twitter and etc, because we could not used "Social Stream" we used "Easy Social Stream" to notify users that our extension is an easy to use extension to streaming data from popular social networks like Facebook.

So please let me know can we use "Easy Social Stream" name to our extension?

Bests.

No, you can't use "Easy Social" in the name of your extension, unless you name it ".... for Easy Social".

If we can't use "Easy Social Stream", "Simple Social Media Stream" is good advice if it's acceptable, but we used "easysocialstream" word in our files and classes, should we change all of files and classes names?

Renaming files and classes cause issues in some situations and it is wast of time for us, also I should say that we do this work previously because we firstly picked "Joomla Social Stream" for our extension and know that it is not acceptable .

I should say that choosing name for extensions in JED is one of hard works! :( :'(

Also I should say that We did not aware of existence of EasySocial for Joomla and our extension is not related to it.

Thanks.

Hi,

If your extension is not even related to EasySocial, then most users will be confused. So, a new name is the best course of action.

PS: You can keep the same file names.

Hi,

We renamed extension to "Simple Social Media Stream" and checked it with JED checker.

I hope that JED review team reviews it ASAP after two month delay!

Thanks.

Hi,

I'm very sorry for the confusion. You are right, the name is "Simple Social Media Stream".

Yesterday (in hurry), I rechecked the extension and everything was OK, so I published it.... but forget to the most important step of renaming it. :-[

Again, I deeply apologize for the error and thank you for your patience.

P.S. I have renamed it now. Pls, check that the first image of the extension still has the old name.
