No subcategories in Extensions Specific category

Post by Sulpher » Mon Nov 13, 2017 3:15 pm

A user is not able to find a required extension in Extensions Specific. Without a list of extensions this section cannot help the user to find anything. E.g. I want to see add-ons in Virtuemart extensions category, but there is no way to open it.

Please add a list of all extensions (subcategories).

Hi,

The tree of categories has been trimmed down to fit into the Home page. There are also requests to reduce it even more, to hide the current number of levels.

I don't think that we are going further expand the current tree, and we could reduce the size to show extensions widgets (New/Top/Recent).

Hi Anibal,
But without extensions tree it is just impossible to find a required extension which is just a must-have feature... Let's imagine someone is looking for some add-on and want to see other related add-ons.
Maybe adding a select box on Extensions Specific page will be a solution?

Another idea: to display 3 column list of all extensions in a spoiler.
User clicks on the spoiler and it opens with the full list.

And finally, it is possible to display the list of all extensions in 3 columns without the spoiler and without items.
When we clicking on the category, we see the list of related products.

I just shared the idea how to improve UX of the JED since it is important for many users. I hope it will be taken into consideration by the JED team. :-)

Hi,

Yes, it will be taken into consideration. However, all volunteers are already collaborating with several ongoing initiatives (e.g. JED4, current site operations, etc). So, new features are being added to the future roadmap of JED 4.

If you are interested to make it happen, no better way to collaborate with JED actively.
