Deprecated error

Hi I have two joomlas in my current computer,one is version 1.5 and another one 1.0,version 1.5 works just fine while 1.0 not.I just wondering what is happening when I got this error:

Deprecated: Assigning the return value of new by reference is deprecated in C:\Apache2\Apache2\htdocs\synet\includes\joomla.php on line 859

I relatively new to this(learn joomla in a month),i googled any possible solution to this error but to no avail.

What can be suggested is that has something to do with php 5.3.2(read somewhere about php5 not compatible with 1.0) im currently using where joomla 1.5 works while 1.0 not as mention.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.cheers.

Sounds like you are running your 1.0.x site on php 5.3. Only Joomla 1.5.15 and higher are compatible with php versions 5.3.x.
