Post by aytugakar » Thu Feb 05, 2009 1:31 pm

It's already addresses like http:// sitename/2009-01-30-10-54-10/108-2009-02-05-10-48-51.html

i wonder why you insist ataching arabic in the url , it is not a good practise and may cause some problems , however, this could be made only by apatche rewrite mode

Sorry
Not possible in J!1.5 for security reason, You can’t use Arabic or NO Latin1 in Alias, Joomla! does only transliterate Latin 1 glyphs.

You can type the alias in English or use Arabic with Latin characters, I recommend using the English language, writing Arabic in Latin letters are not standard.

This is a good point and I was trying to implement that because I want to try to see how it can boost search engines page rank for keywords in the url itself.

Saber, is there any work around even for testing reasons?

thanks

I know it seems stupid to you. However, if wikipedia used it, I think it worths a shot to see if it boosts search engine rankings or not. If it does, and I believe so, then it still wish if someone can dig into this to provide a solution or a workaround.

Thanks though.

Brother, Iyad
It's not impossible, but was dismissed for security reasons in joomla! 1.5.
The only way to do that (using Arabic letters) is to hack a lot of Joomla! Files

Thanks for the reply Saber. In this case, I will forget about it for now because I had bad experience when I hacked j! files. I had to do a lot of compare every time there is an upgrade.

I might try it with htaccess for testing SE rankings though.

Thanks anyway.
