Post by manuman » Sun Apr 09, 2006 3:07 pm

Hi All,

As everyone would know 1.5 is nearly upon us and the Developer Documentation Team is in full swing over at the dev portal wrting the API documentation.

We would welcome volunteers to help get this documentation finished in time for the release of Joomla! 1.5. To see what we are up to have a look here... http://dev.joomla.org/index.php?option= ... .framework

If your familiar with Joomla!, PHP etc and could commit to a few hours a week over the next month or two please reply to this post.

Thanks in Advance

Hey manuman,

I just did a short stretch on the user manual and would like to help out here if I can. I'm pretty well versed in PHP/MySQL but I'm still working my way through the new Joomla API. With the user manual, ledzep circulated a word doc from an agreed upon outline and then we just volunteered for chapters and sent it back written, he's compiling it. The structure here seems wiki based. Do we just jump in and start writing or get assigned something? Do we need access to the wikis? I'm trying to focus on the site templates and patTemplates for some other writing I'm doing, will it help out if I contribute some here or do you need something else?

Hey manuman,

Please count me in.  I just finished a very complex conversion of a site to Joomla with a lot of core enhancements, so I'm familiar with the terrain and versed in PHP/MySQL.  I've also been keeping up with the core changes in 1.5; I track them twice a week.  I'd also like to help out with writing tutorials when the time comes.

Thanks,

Sean

I would like to volunteer to do some manual writing like documenting the Joomla API with code snippets.
Got to get up to speed in Joomla first.

I'm a former programmer who is a writer at a newspaper nowadays.
(My lack of knowledge will probably make it easier to write Joomla programming for dummies style of documentation.)

Cheers,

Jon Fernquest

Hi,
I would love to get into the project.  Please just point me in the right direction.  I am just starting to get into Joomla, but am fairly strong in PHP/MySQL.
Thanks,
Forrest

Hi,

Name is Chris.  I work over here at PICnet, Inc where I do custom Joomla Development.  Very well versed in the Joomla CMS and now Framework.  Would love to share the knowledge that I have accumulated of endless hours of search on the forum and google and would love to contribute to the community as Joomla is "paying my billings" so to speak.  Let me know if I can help.

Count me in... however, to let you know, I'm not well versed in anything but typing, so what would be good for me is for you to assign me a project that needs a lot of typing.  I'm sorry, but that's all the help I can be.  I'm still learning the PHP code and very slowly I might add too.

I could do some cut & paste from files to the wiki if that's what you need or anything trivial like that that takes up a lot of time.  Business has been really slow for me so I have time to give to the project.

I'll be creating and evaluating some plugins for Joomla, so will need to document things for myself as I go along.  I'd rather contribute to the main documentation when I can.  Let me know how I can help.

Currently I am creating a component for a customer of mine. I don't have any Joomla experience so I am using the documentation a lot. I noticed some problems with the examples in the code. It would be nice if I was able to correct errors like these.

I have some experience with PHP ( approx 7-8 years ) (though this is my first Joomla Project )
I am not a native English speaker

If you point out the errors we should be able to fix them.

However, we are in the process of moving most of this material to the wiki at http://docs.joomla.org where you will be able to fix any problems yourself quite easily.

Regards,
Chris.
