Refresh-less saving

Post by Krki » Wed Jul 20, 2016 9:59 am

Hi

Many many times me and my colleagues need to edit/fine-tune long article texts.
Which means that a lot of saving is needed.
If not for that then just for sake of not loosing edited text in case of power loss.
But after every save, page edit refreshes and text in editor is scrolled back to top.

- Is it possible to modify code around "editor" to grab text from it without refreshing page?
- Or at least to make editor to remember where edit cursor was placed before save button is pressed,
so that it can scroll back and place cursor and same spot again after page reloads?

Maybe this could be done on core level - to extend refresh-less saving to whole Joomla so that when tweaking some menu/component/module/plugin parameters it stays in edited part, without need to constantly returning back to area/tab where editing was done.

This would save a lot of time, clicking and scrolling.

What do you think about this idea?

Best regards

There is an extension, called "Rokpad", that does exactly what you want. It's free so you can try it without really committing to anything.

Tweaking an editor will take a lot of time and will make updates to that editor a big hassle.

Hi

Thanks for the suggestion, but I prefer to use JCE Editor.
It has more options and extensions, and I already have it installed on ton of my websites.
JCE is also more user friendly.
