google captcha installation documentation

Post by ramjay » Sun Mar 04, 2018 11:39 pm

Regarding the following instructions from Joomla for installing google captcha:
https://docs.joomla.org/J3.x:Google_ReCaptcha

It leaves out a vital step!
On the contact options page; "Allow Captcha on Contact" needs to be set to captcha recaptcha.

In your admin go to;

components/contacts/options (top right side under the joomla logo)
Click on "contacts" , under /system/global configuration. (left side)

then you will see in the navigation under the heading "form" the option; "Allow Captcha on Contact"
from the drop down menu choose captcha recaptcha.

Please amend the instructions, so others don't waste their time following inadequate documentation.

Good observation.

Be informed that if the value "Captcha - ReCaptha" is chosen for the option "Default Captcha" in the Global Configuration (as outlined in the section https://docs.joomla.org/J3.x:Google_ReC ... ation_form), it is good enough to enable Captcha in both the Contact and Registration forms. The reason being, the Default value for the option "Allow Captcha on Contact" in "Contacts: Options" is "Use Global". On the same token, the Default value for the option "Captcha" in "Users: Options" is "Use Global".

Your statement is true if Captcha is not enabled in the Global Configuration.

Hello,

I read a lot about integrating Recaptcha V2 on Joomla but i found almost nothing about Recaptcha V3, and i have to say, that personnaly i found this new version more convenient for users. here's the official google doc for racaptcha v3 : https://developers.google.com/recaptcha/docs/v3
Any chance to have a "extension" or a tutorial on how integrate this new captcha version ?
thanks by advance ;)
