Inserting ad code on front page of website

Post by lekrmpotich » Mon Aug 06, 2012 11:17 pm

My advertising partner requires that I insert this ad code under the title of my web site, sports-at-work.com

How do I insert the code? Thanks in advance for any help! -Luke

<!-- begin 728x90 Top Sports-at-work -->
<script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
window.dctile = Number(window.dctile) + 1 || 1;
window.dc_ord = Number(window.dc_ord) || Math.floor(Math.random() * 1E10);
if (dctile==1) {var vdcopt = 'ist';} else {vdcopt = '';}
if (17>dctile) document.write('<script type="text/javascript" src="http://ad.doubleclick.net/adj/yb.sports ... =pg;dcopt=' + vdcopt + ';yb=ad;s1=;s2=;tile=' + dctile + ';sz=728x90;ord=' + dc_ord + '?"><\/script>\n');
</script>
<!-- End ad tag -->

Hahaha do you really want to use double click for monotizing your website taking into account all the bad press about them. Think about your site users instead of earning money. Either way you can add the code via either banner add manager, html module or a css module.

Thanks, Matt. In which CSS module and where should I place it? In template_css.css ? I want the ad to appear just below the site title (Sports@Work) and above the content.

Btw, I am using the gk_icki_sports template.

And for the record, the reason I'm using this partner is to get more site visitors (and it does help a LOT). In addition, this ad spot isn't nearly as valuable as actual article pages, so I don't really mind if any revenue is messed up.

Yes as i said before either use Joomla banner manager or the custom HTML module. If these dont work try the Flexi Custom Code module which allows for CSS, HTML and Javascript. If none of these work then you may have to add an override on the editor.

The reason i mentioned the company was because i decided to have a look at them from the code you added. The amount of bad press about illegal cookies on the first page of Google is very heavy for an advertising agency. There is nothing wrong with using them if thats what you need in order to generate an income from your site. I would just insure that you cover your own ass in your privacy statement and add some legal credentials on cookie regulations etc. I dont know where you are based but even with the new EU cookie laws a lot of there companies still are in breach of EU regulations. I assume sooner or later these companies will be cracked down on, however, using these companies especially if you do not cover your legal credentials could result in bad user PR.
