Search Engine does not work with a text term + a digit

Post by rufusbecker » Fri Jan 29, 2016 10:41 pm

A educational client has been having problems with the search engine, and I think I have narrowed it down to the encoded character for space in the search parameters.

If you search for a term such as 'grade' and follow it by a space and a number such as 12, the default search of "all words" drops off the '12' from the searched terms. You only get the search engine to see '12' if you select "exact phrase". I think the problem is "all words" does not properly parse "searchword=grade%2012".

Has anyone else seen this behaviour? Is there fix, or third-party component that gets around this?
