Failed to move uploaded file to /media directory

There is an error message when I try to install a language pack.

It says [Failed to move uploaded file to /media directory]

Its not the Fish language, its another pack I've downloaded from joomla extensios.

qhat should I do?

Hi,

The reply was probably me, adding the moderator note. A reply never get's lost.

Now that I am here, are the permissions correct on the media folder, and also for the other folders? you can check this in Administrator > System > System info, permissions tab. And on this system info, safe_mode = OFF?

in permissions, all of them are "writable".

but safe mode=ON. how do I change this?

You can't I'm afraid. You would have to ask your hosting if they can set it to OFF. There might be other workarounds, but I'd check this first.

well, i've talked to my host and they don't want to turn safe mode OFF.

you mentioned that there are other ways to turn it OFF. how??

Well,

There is something like a patch to act as workaround. You can search the forum for this with "safe mode patch" and you'll find similar topics.

Other solutions are to put your own php.ini files in directories with the safe mode setting to off. I'm not sure exactly how this works though. The last solution would be to build the site completely on a localhost, where the settings is off, and then move it online.

Actually the safe mode is in off position. but still getting the error.
