Community Builder Username limit

Hello,
When a user registers to our site using Community Builder the username has to be at least 3 characters. This is the first time this happend and I couldn't enable this user. I had to change his username to 3 characters and email him I did this which is not professional. (Shouldn't there be a popup window that states needs to be at least 3 characters)

Question One: how do I let the user know? Shouldn't there be a popup window that states needs to be at least 3 characters and how do I edit this area?
Question Two: how can I change the filed to at least 5 or 6 in the username limit area in Community Builder than I don't have to worry about this problem question one.
