Module "Your Details"

Post by fg@skivehs.dk » Wed Mar 21, 2007 8:25 am

How can I prevent logged-in users from changing anything but the password in the module "Your Details"?

You will have to modify the core code to accomplish that.

Can you read HTML code?
In /components/com_user/user.html.php (backup that file before making this modification) look for:

<input class="inputbox" type="text" name="name" value="<?php echo $row->name;?>" size="40" />
change into:
<input class="inputbox" readonly type="text" name="name" value="<?php echo $row->name;?>" size="40" />
This way the name will be visible, but not editable.

You will have to do the same for the fields that your users are not allowed to change.

Reason: the html code was cut off

Thanks for the code- I wanted to do exactly the same thing, even figured out what code to change, but my changes caused a blank page to appear instead of the form.

This code works fine.

This seems like functionality that should be in the administrator backend- let the admin choose which fields the user can change. It's odd for a membership site to let the member change his username.
