There was always a DELETE TAB on the USER MANAGER page - it is gone on our site. We cannot delete old users at this stage.Can someone help to resolve problem?

Are you still running 1.0?
It has been EOL for more than 5 years. If your server's php version have been upgraded, it will not run.
Sorry, I don't remember how it looked any more.
