Site running Joomla 1.0.15. PHP version 5.4.41

Post by burlington » Tue Jun 09, 2015 9:05 am

I am not a Joomla expert in any shape or form but I have been asked to help someone whose Joomla site not longer shows any page content.
The site is running on (see topic title) and the full site configuration is shown at the end of this message.
The website Host reports error messages as follows:

I have 'dealt' with the problems with 'PHP Strict Standards' using advice on this Forum, but to no avail. My initial reaction when asked to help was to think that the Joomla version running this site is so out of date that I was surprised it was still running at all!

However, this may not be the case as it was working Ok until a few days ago.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Regards & thanks

Martin

If you are running version 1.0.15, the current forum is the best one for the question.
it was working Ok until a few days ago
Your hosting provider may have upgraded PHP to PHP 5.4 from 5.2 or 5.3, ref. http://www.joomla.org/technical-requirements.html

Code: Select all

$mosConfig_error_reporting = '-1';
Change the above value from -1 to 0.

Edit the file index.php in the main Joomla folder and in the administrator folder and add two lines after the initial comments. These settings will display real errors but filter non-essential notices, warnings, deprecated and strict standards messages:

Code: Select all

* See COPYRIGHT.php for copyright notices and details.
*/

ini_set( 'display_errors', true);
error_reporting(E_ALL & ~(E_STRICT | E_DEPRECATED | E_NOTICE | E_WARNING));
There is no guarantee that this will work for all extensions because some of them may overwrite the error reporting configuration. Therefore it is time to seriously look at migrating to a supported version.

Thanks everyone.
I have decided, and told the site owner this, that the site is so old that a complete re-think is required because the time, effort & cost to sort out a very old system is, frankly, not worth the candle.

A redesign in the modern idiom is required. The owner knows this, I know it and I am sure everyone reading this message knows it as well.

Question: For how long can you keep on flogging a dead horse?

Regards & thanks

Martin

my opinion is that you must move on. joomla , php, mysql and everything in technology move on. That s why the update is good. You must convince the site owner for this. Everything move on in our life not only in websites
