Re: Can't Install Joomla getting "application/x-httpd-php" ???
It appears as either php is not present on the server or (which is more likely) .htaccess is not configured correctly. If you could open your .htaccess file and find the line that says
AddType application/x-httpd-php .php
Try to remove the line if it's there and give it a go. Otherwise you'll have to install php on the server.

These are all separate problems - it would be best if you took them to the hosting company that you use (if you use one). If you host them on your PC then you'll have to ask the WAMP developers (or any other software that you use).

This is for people facing this difficulty with a local server.
I was facing with the same difficulty. But I just backed up my database and reinstalled WAMP server and it worked.
But remember to delete the wamp folder after uninstalling coz the first time, i left it there and faced the same problem.
After reinstalling just import back the backed up db using phpMyAdmin and continue your work.

Issue resolved by adding # before AddHandler in .htaccess file
