Delete Joomla Site

Post by rhit » Wed Dec 09, 2015 6:21 pm

I am retiring and would like to delete my online Joomla Site. I read some about clearing the apps first and then removing the site. How do I remove the site and apps and verify that this has been completed (total removal). I am a real novice.

There is no need to be subtle with data and files, unless you need backups for some legal requirements. You can go to the cPanel provided by your host, use phpMyAdmin to drop the database schema and then use File Manager, FTP or a similar utility to delete all the folders.

If you browse to the site afterwards, you should see just an error message or two. Then you can cancel your domain name and hosting plan. If you had installed paid third party extensions, the renewal notices will still keep coming.
