Would 1.5 really be faster, with legacy mode on?

My question is simple: with Legacy mode on, J! 1.5 loads everything that J! 1.0 does, right?  So, even if the core framework is lighter and nimbler, if it has to load 1.0's as well wouldn't it technically be slower and heavier on the server?

I'm just asking because it seems like if you still use any template / module from J!1.0 at all, you'd be better off not upgrading since it would actually slow your site down, and since the upgrade doesn't contain any real new "features" outside of the faster framework, is there any point for anyone using older templates / modules to move?

If you work in a multilingual environment, yes, as everyone can finally use both front & backend in their native language!
just as an example.. others could be: authentication plugins & xmlrpc..
