Stable 1.5?
Hi,
When exactly do you know when Joomla 1.5 is actually stable - is there ever an idea of when the final stable release will be released. I notice a lot of third party software is already available for the beta version - so is it safe enough to use for a live production site yet? Or is it still advisable to hold off for awhile longer?
Cheers

When 1.5 Stable is available for download. There hasn't been any date announced yet.thedarkest12 wrote:When exactly do you know when Joomla 1.5 is actually stable - is there ever an idea of when the final stable release will be released.
The first release will probably be 1.5 Beta2...
No, it isn't safe enought for a live production site. I would advise you to wait for the 1.5 Stable.I notice a lot of third party software is already available for the beta version - so is it safe enough to use for a live production site yet? Or is it still advisable to hold off for awhile longer?

Re: Stable 1.5?
1.0.12 -> 1.5 is not an upgrade but a migration.
The 1.5 version will offer a tool to import the old data from a 1.0.12 website into the 1.5 website.

It's a bit difficult to see, but there is a "discussion link" in that post that leads you to a lengthy discussion on the topic of migration.
We are still a ways off from v 1.5, I believe.

Re: Stable 1.5?
I consider 1.5 "beta" to be really an Alpha release because there was a lot more work left to do. It just throws off everyone's calendar that's all. A beta is bug fixes, not continued development.
