Server upgrade broke my client's sites

Post by DSNewMedia » Wed Aug 17, 2016 4:03 pm

Fasthosts have upgraded Apache and now the v1 sites show the basic template images and "shape" but no content is displayed. I can see all the content in the editor for each section. It's just not displaying on the front end.
I checked the Joomla website and thought it would be compatible with the upgrade.
Is php, mysql versions the problem or something else. Can any offer any insights please.
Is the only solution to upgrade to a later Joomla version?

Database Version: 5.0.95-log

Try setting error reporting to "Maximum" in your Global configuration and then check the homepage. This is most likely a small issue in one extension (template, component, module, or plugin) causing all this mess.

Joomla 1.0.x is not compatible with PHP 5.4.x

Joomla 1.0.15 is End-of-Life since July 2009:
https://community.joomla.org/blogs/comm ... f-age.html

PHP 5.4.45 is End-of-Life since last year:
http://php.net/supported-versions.php

The only solution is to migrate to the most recent version of Joomla: 3.6.2.

However, Joomla 1 > Joomla 1.5 > Joomla 2.5 > Joomla 3.6.2 is a difficult migration. If you have a small website with 20 to 30 articles, I would probably build a new Joomla 3.6.2 from scratch and copy + paste the old articles in the new website.

Yes correct.. you need to make sure you run the latest stable version of joomla to avoid such upgrade issues and most importantly avoid hacking problems as well. One problem I see with your web hosting provider is they need to update customers regarding such upgrades and what effect it will have on your website.

As Pe7er mentioned a migration (it is not an upgrade!) is not for the fainted hearted among us. It is a very big migration and is rather intense. However we did write down the steps in the Migration and Upgrade Team https://docs.joomla.org/Planning_Migrat ... 1.0_to_1.5 (after which you upgrade to Joomla 3.6) and I published a comprehensive and Practical Guide of the complete process to migrate from Joomla 1.0 to Joomla 3.6.x here

Hope that will help
