[FIXED] Content items not displayed in Latest News after "Apply"

This is on Joomla 1.0.5.

While editing frontpage selected items from the administrator side, I notice that if I use the "Apply" button then the item is removed from the Latest News display list on the site.  For example, I edit this particular item and click Apply.  Go to another browser tab and refresh to see the changes on the actual frontend (and frontpage) of the site.  The changes are sucessfully displayed, but now the item is not present in the Latest News list.  If I go back to the administrator side and click Save, then the item reappears in this Latest News list.  My present setting within the Latest News module is to display frontpage items and the specific items for which this issue was demonstrated were all selected for frontpage display. 

The Apply action appears to be affecting the date (the creation date since Latest News does not cover the modified date), or at least the way in Joomla deals with the date.  This probably does not matter because it works as expected after using "Save" and any administrator would eventually have to use the Save button in order to exit the content item editing page.  If this is a legitimate issue, then is it indicative of any other potentially significant problem with Joomla?

This is indeed a bug as the latest news module is has an additional check to see if the items is `checked out`.
A check which is really unnecessary.

This bug has been fixed and will be available in the upcoming 1.0.6 release.
