Intelligent archiving in Joomla in future?

Post by darb » Thu Jul 12, 2007 8:16 am

Storage and archiving is not the same thing and I think that Joomla itself should have an much better core archive solution for old stored data where you also should store large files like media files videos, images etc.

But all this "static" data should be possible to be viewed over Internet with some permission controls. It help you then also if you want to move the data between platforms bcs the data is stored in only one site. Some data must be stored for many year due to regulations.

There is some open source IDARS, records management solutions out there and some commercial ( ex http://www.mobius.com) ones that you can learn from.

A CMS system must have a good archive solution for freeing up the storage, making a better performance for servers and also for compliance issues. Maybe even Talend should be an interesting solution and integration for Joomla http://www.talend.com  and/or http://www.spagobi.org then you automatically also getting analytics.

So whats your opinion about that wish?
Success in the long run Its not about the code its about the people and community that's make it!
Its not what you say its what you do that matters!

Joomla! 1.5 is a transition step toward a most robust and intelligent CMS: Joomla! 2. Has been told on this forums that 1.5 means just this: the break point from the Mambo codebase paradigm.

I personally hope that this Joomla! 2 will be designed on sound Knowledge Management principles and best practices; maybe learning from a lot of good products out there but taking into serious consideration the fact that every day more companies and government institutions are looking after its evolution in order to move their portals to a FOSS ecosystem as good as it is, but they first need a portal platform regulation's compliant.

Greetings.

The Joomla! core group actual performance and achivements guarantee just that: a bright future for Joomla!
