Sorting articles in category pages

Hi,

in http://forum.joomla.org/index.php?topic=252555.0 is described an issue, which I believe is a bug. If not, I believe it deserves addressing user with an explanation in the administration. I have stated fix for 1.5 in there, in case it's really a bug. if not, could someone explain how the ordering of articles on category view is designed? (see the topic)
