Re: Restaurant Directory?
just one problem with the cook book at the moment.... when the user submits a new restaurant, everything appears on the same line...
ie carriage returns aren't recognised. makes addresses look a bit silly... anyone else seen this problem ?

Re: Restaurant Directory?
..well I think I've finished playing with the cookbook now ... you can see it at http://www.bbiab.com
now to start adding more details to restaurants as I come across them ... start with Tokyo Cafe to see an example of a form.
I did remove a lot of the fields that were in pixies files, especiall for the user to submit ... there were just too many fields to fill in! ... simplified the output page too.....
the only problems I have with it are :
newlines not being kept when the user submits a restaurant .. but as Admin has to publish them anyway its quite easy just to alter them from the backend.
the form uses a mixture of the editor fields, and a standard html type field. In the frontend the mosimage button doesnt work, so a submitter can't add a pic to the description - or at least not where i want it to be.
similarly from the backend, there are no parameters to use {mosimage} .. so if you want a pic in the description it has to be the full URL. Also in the backend the Notes field is a 'html style' field .. and so doesnt preserve carriage returns unless you use - should be pretty easy though to change this in the admin scripts to use the editor template.
editing comments doesnt seem to work ... not that you would, but i was trying to edit my own .. selecting the comment and using the edit button takes you to one of the 'restaurant' entries...
overall though its a good compnent to play with, and quite easy to change to the look to match your site.....

Re: Restaurant Directory?
It looks great and also tje joomla.org website uses it (extenstions). But I'd rather look for a free alternative.Lucretia wrote:yes, users can vote and review the entries. Just try the online demo! Re: Restaurant Directory?
This one seems to be a good example.
What i needed to was a way to place lists inside an article..
Basically i work on a online mag and i want to place a page with a list of different peoples favourite restaurant in a neat way and would contain pictures of the restaraunt below or at the side and i could add the contact number etc np plus a google map link to the restaurant..
Heres a start at least....
http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions ... 50/details
Any other ideas?
