Max File Size on Upload Joomla Xplorer
Don't yell if this is in the wrong place. Just let me know and I'll post elsewhere.
I am using Joomla Xplorer and have a problem with max file size on the upload. Can this be increased? Or what is a solution, please.
Thanks for your help.

Re: Max File Size on Upload Joomla Xplorer
You should be able to increase it by making the necessary changes to the upload_max_filesize in the php.ini file. If you do not have access to this file, contact your host for assistance.

Re: Max File Size on Upload Joomla Xplorer
Wow, Chad! I am about to faint. That's the quickest ever and actually about only the second time out of 10 or so answers to problems I've had.
Thank you so very much!! Now, the only problem I have is not being able to edit files via Joomla Xplorer. I can edit template and css files but not there. I have to figure something out.
Thanks a million!

I have access to the fie. It's an executable file which opens but there's nothing in it about "upload_max_filesize"

Can you copy and past the contents of you php.ini and maybe we can take a gander at it and see what's going on.
Since you mention an executable, I am going to assume you are hosted on a Microsoft server. I don't have much experience with Microsoft servers, but will see if we can't get you going at anyrate.

I apologise sincerely for not replying. I wasn't notified of a post here. I am unable to edit with Joomla Xplorer for some reason. Someone did it on their end for me and increased the file size. I am remissed for not updating this log. Hope I'm forgiven.
Thanks,
Jhazzi

PHP.INI is not part of Joomla. It belongs to the web server set-up.

Re: Max File Size on Upload Joomla Xplorer
To anyone still stuck with shared hosting setting limitations (where changing php.ini settings can only be requested thru the provider), both Joomla 2.5 and 3 has the feature to install extensions from URL or from directory.
For me, uploading the component installer thru FTP to my public_html/tmp/ folder and entering that path in the URL and/or directory (whichever works).
Examples:
(by directory path) /home/root/public_html/tmp/yourcomponent.zip
or relatively
(by URL) http://www.yourwebsite/tmp/yourcomponent.zip
Worked for me, without having to hassle you webhosting provider on changing their settings globally that will affect all sites hosted on the same shared server.
Hope this helps.
