moving files to different folders

I'm using extplorer for my directories/folders. I need to move a lot of files in subfolders linked to articles, etc., to different folders/subfolders. Does Joomla automatically update the location of the file to the the new folder in the associated article, or do I need to update each one manually?

i.e. if a file is located in /folder1/subfolder2, and I move it to /folder1/subfolder3, will the article automatically update that link?

No, it wont. you will have to do it manually.

Doing it using phpmyadmin search and replace might be faster.

Thanks. How do you use phpmyadmin to search & replace. I'm not familiar with that.

if all the changes are in the articles then you can also try downloading the content table and use any editor to do the search and replace. Once you do that, rename the content table to something else and import the edited version.
