Looking for LARGE PICTURE of the system in documentation

Post by LAMPB » Tue Feb 28, 2006 11:51 pm

Hi,
Just downloaded and installed Joomla.
When I opened Backend I got confused with all the terminology used.  ???
There are content, categories, components, content items, modules, templates, mambots, languages, sections, wrappers, media, installers.
I started to look into documentation and found out that it does not help me much in understanding of the system in general.
I really need to see a large picture first, so I would understand relations between all those parts of the system.
Am I missing something? Is there such part of projects documentation which would give me a big picture?

Thanks.

We are working hard on the documentation even as we speak.  Both an Administrators and Users Manuals are in progress.

In the meantime try this link:

There are some helpful threads in this forum.

Thank you LedZeppelin,

I found couple of good tutorials through the link you gave me.
I thought I'd share:

Exactly!  All this needs is an expert someone to stick this in visual form on a single sheet of A4 (say visio) and it would make the rest of the documentation really come together!  Nothing more complex than that.

At the moment it's like trying to put together Ikea furniture with just a list of text instructions.
I am really struggling as I don't have time to get "into" Joomla. Why would I need CMS if I didn't need something easy? ;)
