New book for Joomla bookshelf

Post by mbailey » Mon Oct 09, 2006 1:18 pm

I have already had press releases published in the News section on this, but would also like to see my book 'Building a website using a CMS in 90 minutes' listed in the Joomla bookshelf section.

More information is available from http://www.marketingyour.biz

Thanks,
Martin Bailey

Hi,

I would need the official publishing information as presented on the lists in order to add your entry.

means ISBN and other stuff when you have it. May be you just copy one of those entries and fill it with your data.

Thx

Alex

No problem:

Author: Martin Bailey
Type: Paperback
Publisher: Management Books 2000 Limited
Language: English
ISBN: 1-85252-523-1

Overview:
There are many free Content Management Systems (CMS) available. These ‘websites in a box’ allow complex site structures to be up and running in a matter of hours using nothing but a web browser, with a variety of additional modules that deliver a comprehensive and functional site that would take months to write in-house from scratch.

While there are literally hundreds of Open Source CMS systems available empowering literally millions of sites – PHP-Nuke, PostNuke, Type3, Tikiwiki and Xoops to name but a few - Mambo and Joomla! are both respected and stable systems. This book concentrates primarily on Joomla!, although you can evaluate any of the CMS out there and see what suits your needs. Although the content in this book discusses the Joomla! system in detail the theory behind it will be virtually the same for any other system. All CMS are modular in their design, allow different templates to be applied and tweaked, and have a plethora of additional extensions available from third parties to add functionality. The concept of structuring content into sections and categories is also common across all CMS.

One little point >:-)

You might want to consider migrating your site from Mambo to Joomla! - or do you get similar support from them ;-).

Ah, a minor typo on the 'About this site' page... It should have said 'was originally created using Mambo'. I ported to Joomla at the beginning of the year. It does say that further on though...

The book was published about 8 weeks ago.

Thanks for your help!

Kind regards,
Martin Bailey

:)  You are still using the old mambo favicon - that's what I mentioned :)
