Question about joining the Documentation Group

Post by Winvin » Fri Dec 22, 2006 3:10 am

Does anyone know how to join the Joomla Documentation Groups? I'm not skilled in coding but I like making instructions.  :-[

All you have to do is ask...

Thanks for the offer we are always looking for new members to help with documentation.

When are you available to start contributing?
We need writers, proof-readers, editors, etc.
Do you have any preferences ?

Welcome aboard.

Winvin,

Please send me an email next week or first week of January.  You can use the form on the Doc Team Workshop site.

I'm also wondering if we could start now since my time is quite flexible right now.

Hi Winvin,

I'm actually on the Developer Documentation Team but I've been helping Andy (humvee) out with proofreading the 1.0.x help screens so they can be as up-to-date as possible for the imminent 1.0.12 release.  Since it looks like just about everyone on the User Doc Team has departed for Christmas and you sound really keen to get started, perhaps you'd like to lend a hand with proofreading the 1.0.x help screens too.

If so, then take a look at this thread: http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,121104.0.html
You should also read the Editorial Style Guide here: http://help.joomla.org/content/category/39/168/214/
Not sure what Andy's availability is like this coming week, but I shall be available throughout Christmas week so feel free to PM me if you have any questions.  I was working through the Site help screens systematically (http://help.joomla.org/content/category/16/100/153/) so just pick up where I left off and PM me if you're working on a screen so I know to pick a different one and I'll do the same for you.

Apologies to Michelle and Andy if I'm treading on your toes, but such an offer is too good to go to waste, right.  ;)

Regards,
Chris.

Beat me to it.  ;)
By all means dip into the 1.0.x. Help Screens and help with proof reading, or if you want to look at providing content, check to see which pages are currently "unmarked" see http://help.joomla.org/content/view/1901/265/ for details plus the links Chris mentions. Also have a look at screens that have already been completed.

None needed.

I am around throughout the holiday period so pm me also if you have any queries that cannot be answered here. Once the holidays are over I am sure Michelle will take you aside and go through the 1.5 Help Screen Workshop protocols.

Regards

Andy
