Would the jumi module allow me to include the script to load a joomla module on the fly?
I can't figure out how to get the tab to load a joomla module when clicked
I definitely know there are modules at extensions.joomla.org that do it. They include modules into itself (maybe you will find even tabs solution there).
I am affraid I have no idea how they are working.
So the best way is to download them and study their code.

Then you can write your own module from the scratch or you can use Jumi for this - at the least for developing purpose. You can think of Jumi as a kind of module creator.

Whew, ok, got it to work as far as showing the contents of a test.htm file.

now will it show the contents of a *.shtml file if it has cgi scripts? like formmail.cgi

Hm ...
I have a similar question some two years ago. I did a slight research.

Joomla - the environment - is written in php. It does not understand cgi itself.
You need to acquire "something" that makes a bridge between cgi and php. I know it exists. I remember reading an article about it. An then you can use Jumi to include it and your cgi script into Joomla.

Right. It is a Joomla! feature not Jumi or your bug.
Joomla! does not process content plugins in RSS, pdf.

There is a clever solution how to hide Jumi code in RSS feeds here: http://www.kksou.com/php-gtk2/Joomla/pl ... S-Feed.php

What do you mean under "does not work at all"?
Nothing is shown? Or php source code is shown? Or plugin code {jumi ....} is shown?
Please specify.

Can you please confirm the same behavior with jumi_demo.php that is included into the distribution package?
Thanks.

Two days ago something happened with my Remository. I repaired it but did not notice the plugin for Joomla 1.0.x was missing.
Thank you for your time and warning. The file is there again.

Hi MarHaj,

Thanks for releasing this product, it looks like it does exactly what I need.

...but I am having trouble getting it to work.

I have enabled the jumi plugin and set the absolute path to /var/www/html/joomla/images/scripts/

When I put the following in an article I see the jumi code rather than the demo.

{jumi [jumi_demo.php] hello[Hello world!] and again[Hello!]}

Database Version: 5.0.27
Database Collation: utf8_general_ci
PHP Version: 5.1.6
Web Server: Apache/2.2.6 (Fedora)
Web Server to PHP interface: apache2handler
Joomla! Version: Joomla! 1.5.6 Production/Stable [ Vusani ] 12-August-2008 22:00 GMT

I have also tried putting the jumi_demo.php in the joomla root directory without specifying the absolute path with the same result and also tried specifying the path in the {jumi} code.

jumi_demo.php permissions are 755

Any help would be appreciated.

Ok I'm new to Jumi and the php world.

I do however think that Jumi will fix my problem. I installed the module and the plugin and in the module I pionted to what I thought was not working right on my site a slideshow. It works unless you use a rocket template it breaks.

I have a php file called viewdetails.php or something like that and in that file it calles for

<script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.xxxxx/components/com_xxxxxx/ ... "></script>

I do not totally understand how the Jumi plugin works but I feel that is the answer to my problem. I don't feel I can use the Jumi Module because the output in the the main area not a position.

How in the world can I use the plugin to do what ever it need to do in this file.

Again the viewdetails.php contains

<script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.xxxxx/components/com_xxxxxx/ ... "></script>

Thanks

Code: Select all

I see the jumi code rather than the demo.
3play,
when you see the Jumi code it is not due to the bad filepathname but it means Jumi does not working at all.
The most possible reasons are:
- Jumi plugin, although installed, has not bee published yet. Verify it in the backend.
- when writing the code {jumi [jumi_demo.php] hello[Hello world!] and again[Hello!]} into the Joolma article it is advisable to switch OFF wysiwyg editor. Many editors include into the code invisible characters. However Joomla reads them and as a result prevents Jumi from running.

Yes it is known (see http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?f=470&t=271337 ) that with some rocket templates curly brackets content plugins (like Jumi) do not work.

As to the including js files by viewdetails.php that contains
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.xxxxx/components/com_xxxxxx/ ... "></script>
you did not tell us what's the problem.

It seems OK. Except the fact I am using local js files. So src="pathname_to_slideshow.js" is relative path with respect to the Joomla root and not with respect to viewdetails.php.

Jumi Mudule makes it work but that is not what I want.

I want to know in Jumi for Dummies how to make the plugin work. I don't understand how to tell the viewdetails.php file to use the plugin and the command for the plugin to call

<script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.xxxxx/components/com_xxxxxx/ ... "></script>

I maybe making this harder than it is but I don't understand how to use the plugin. By the way I'm using Joomla 1.x not 1.5

Well, I will try to explain it.

Jumi (plugin or module) does nothing but include an external file (php, html, txt, js, css, ...) into the Joomla content. It includes it either into articles (plugin) or into module positions (module).

Some piece of codes (e.g. php) cannot be written into Joomla articles directly. And here comes Jumi to work.

If you have some piece of code like

Code: Select all

<script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.xxxxx/components/com_xxxxxx/library/slideshow/js/image-slideshow.js"></script>
create a file, e.g. test.php that will contain the code above.
In the article where you want the code to be included write simply {jumi [somepath/test.php]}.
When Joomla processes the article it finds every instance of {jumi [somepath/test.php]} and substitutes it with the content of test.php. In your case by <script ......></script>
That's all.

Jumi module works similarly.

Nice addition for includes...

I've tried to follow through the 33 pages of questions and answers and didn't see the fix for the path problem with software like forums. With global includes linking to other includes etc.. I have this working with a few things, but would like to use this instead of wrapper for a forum software. The only post that I found was one where the author mentioned changing the path of the forum software to match joomla. Which, I take it means having all the dirs/files in the joomla dir.

Isn't there an easier way to include a forum software index without having to dump everything in the root of joomla?
Maybe you can point me to a thread where someone has successfully included a /var/www/joomla/forum/index.php.
Or is there a small script that will do the trick to be included that resolves all the path issues with another defined path.
Right now I have the jumi set for /forum/index.php and of course it cannot include all the /forum/includes required by global.php.

Thanks

Ok I did what you said and the section is now gone out of my script and put this in to test it and now where the slideshow was all I get is {jumi [modules/jumi_demo.php]} printed on the screen. I turned off the WYSISWYG editor and I also unplblished and republished the plugin.

I wish it would. Including applications (forums) into Joomla content is not easy at all.

I have noticed - and I am sure you too - there exists three ways of making 3rd party application to work "in" Joomla.
1. making use of wrapper component or iframe: quick, easy with its bottleneck like Google indexing, memory requirements, etc.
2. templating of 3rd party to look like Joomla: It is the approach of e.g. joomla.org
3. including application into the Joomla content: generally it requires quite a good coding consisting of developing Joomla component and usually application core hacking too.

If I were you I will choose 2. It seems to me you do not require sharing Joomla and forum users. If you do choose also jFusion which is universal Joomla/forum bridging component. But it does not include forums into Joomla content (so you have to use 1 or 2 approach).

Gsfglobal,
hm ...., interesting.
And what about this:
1. Are another content plugin with { } working on your site?
Seems there are problems with some templates by Rockettheme. Can be issue of Joomla installation too. See Plugins with { } are not working thread.
2. Jumi plugin works in Joomla articles (static or dynamic) only. Not in section or category descriptions, not in modules, etc.

Hi,

Came across your module, installed ok, and think set it up.

I am moving my site across to joomla, i have a page in a folder that shows all the .pdf in a folder and then hyperlinks them.

i put the following code in a article page

Code: Select all

{jumi [intimation/intimations.php]}
but it shows the following error
The file /home/sites/stbrycekirk.org/public_html/cms/intimation/intimations.php cannot be included!
It does not exist or is not readable.
The path is right and the folder and files exist.

anyone any clues.

The file /home/sites/stbrycekirk.org/public_html/cms/intimation/intimations.php cannot be included!
It does not exist or is not readable.
That's not bad. It means Jumi works.

If the pathname is right and the file intimations.php exists in the destination the file is probably not readable.
Verify access rights. On some servers 644 is sufficient, on others must be set to 664.
Verify with your ftp client the owner of the file. It happens that owner is not you (ftp user) but server (e.g. Apache). The first owner is a must.
If everything above is OK and still no inclusion verify end of lines (EOL) of intimations.php file. On Unix host it must be lf, on Windows crlf while on Mac, what a surprise, lfcr. It is advisable use a development tool which enables alter EOL (like pspad) or converter tool (like eol converter) or you can use most ftp clients for it as well during uploading (ascii, not binary mode + *.php extension is in the list of files to be converted).

Hi, I deleted the file, put it back and it found the path, but no insertin, so replaced it your demo file and worked straight off. so must be something to do with my file. It works out side jooma, so might be something to do with that,

Mayve you can see something straight off

Code: Select all

<?php
//Open directory
$dir = dir(".");
//List files in directory and load the array
$pdffiles = array();
while (($file = $dir->read()) !== false)
{
// Filter out non-pdfs
If (strpos($file,"pdf") > 1) {
$pdffiles[] = $file;
}
}
$dir->close();
print $pdffiles;
// Reverse sort the array
rsort($pdffiles);
// Perform date mojo and output the list
foreach($pdffiles as $pdffile) {
$strparts = array( ".pdf");
$strpubdate = str_replace($strparts, "", $pdffile);
$strpubyr = '20' . substr($strpubdate,0,2);
$strpubmo = substr($strpubdate,2,2);
$strpubda = substr($strpubdate,4,2);
$strpubdate = $strpubyr . '-' .$strpubmo . '-' . $strpubda;
$pubdate = date('l  F  j,  Y' ,strtotime($strpubdate));
echo '<li><a href="' . $pdffile . '" target="_blank">' . $pubdate . '</a><br></li>';
}
?>
Thanks

so must be something to do with my file. It works out side Joomla
The most usual reason of this symptom is that variables being defined in the script collide with Joomla variables.
You know the script behaves at the place of the inclusion as it was written into page manually. So it sees all variables available at this place.

Fortunately prevention and cure is easy:
- use functions (or classes) and hide all script variables into them
- if it not possible use for your variables rather unusual names (the same applies for the function names)

Example. Your script can be rewritten into

Code: Select all

<?php
function wgdirectory () {
 //Open directory
 $dir = dir(".");
 //List files in directory and load the array
..........................etc until end of your script
 echo '<li><a href="' . $pdffile . '" target="_blank">' . $pubdate . '</a><br></li>';
 }
} // end of wgdirectory function

wgdirectory();

?>
Try it. I think it will work in yor case too.

hi,
im trying to implement jumi on the following scrip (for starters)

Code: Select all

<?php

require("shipinfo.inc.php");

// Get parameters from URL
//$dbtable = $_GET["dbtable"];
//$shipsname = $_GET["shipsname"];
$dbtable = 'shipinfo';
$shipsname = "";

//Start XML file, create parent node
$dom = new DOMDocument("1.0");
$node = $dom->createElement("markers");
$parnode = $dom->appendChild($node);

// Opens a connection to a mySQL server
$connection=mysql_connect ($spdbserver, $spusername, $sppassword);
if (!$connection) {
  die("Not connected : " . mysql_error());
}

// Set the active mySQL database
$db_selected = mysql_select_db($spdatabase, $connection);
if (!$db_selected) {
  die ("Can\'t use db : " . mysql_error());
}

// Search the rows in the markers table
$query = "SELECT * FROM $dbtable WHERE name LIKE '%$shipsname%' ORDER BY name";
$result = mysql_query($query);

$result = mysql_query($query);
if (!$result) {
  die("Invalid query: " . mysql_error());
}

header("Content-type: text/xml");

// Iterate through the rows, adding XML nodes for each
while ($row = @mysql_fetch_assoc($result)){
	$node = $dom->createElement("marker");
	$newnode = $parnode->appendChild($node);
	$newnode->setAttribute("name",$row['name']);
	$newnode->setAttribute("mmsi", $row['mmsi']);
    $newnode->setAttribute("lat", $row['lat']);
    $newnode->setAttribute("lon", $row['lon']);
    $newnode->setAttribute("call", $row['call']);
    $newnode->setAttribute("dest", $row['dest']);
    $newnode->setAttribute("type", $row['type']);
    $newnode->setAttribute("imo", $row['imo']);
    $newnode->setAttribute("status", $row['status']);

    $newnode->setAttribute("speed", $row['speed']);
    $newnode->setAttribute("course", $row['course']);
	$newnode->setAttribute("width", $row['width']);
	$newnode->setAttribute("length", $row['length']);
	$newnode->setAttribute("draft", $row['draft']);
	$newnode->setAttribute("mtime", date("M d Y H:i:s", $row['mtime']));
	$newnode->setAttribute("timestamp", $row['timestamp']);
}

echo $dom->saveXML();

?>
for i reason i dont understand i get the following error:

Patrick,
I am affraid your script contains global variables names that uses Joomla 1.0.x too. E.g. $query, $row.There is a great reason they interract unpredictably.
I have posted a solution just few replies above. Just for reminding:
Make your variables local (hide then into the funcions or classes) or use for global variables very unusual names.

Marhay, tnx for the plugin/module
works great.. I am using it everywhere on my new sports site.

But... (off course there is a but...)
Now I would like to include a php file in the description of a category, so that it wil show up above the blog on the category blog page.
I get the following error:
Fatal error: Call to a member function def() on a non-object in /home/tornooi/domains/tornooi.net/public_html/jtornooi/plugins/content/jumi.php on line 63
this is my jumi code:
{jumi [phpjumi/lijstje.php] [category] [1] [toernooien]}
And I know my php file is correct because I included in an article and there it works

further info: joomla 1.54 with jumi plugin and module installed.

greetz

Fatal error: Call to a member function def() on a non-object in ... jumi.php on line 63
I do apologize. The bug was removed some 14 days ago - download jumi plugin version 1.2.1 for Joomla 1.5.x here
Hope it will work now.
(And thanks for letting me know - the more feedbacks the better jumi).
