No access to backend
Hello people and great day to everyone
I am tasked with editing a few things on a small private organisational website running joomla 1.5.
And i am having issues getting into the backend.
I got access to the host and through phpmyadmin edited a SuperAdmin account, changed password as md5, saved.
Got access to frontend just fine, but backend just popups login frame again.
Hope someone here can give me a simple solution.
Did wait 24 hours to be sure that their servers did update my database changes.
Best Regards

Re: No access to backend
Joomla 1.5 has been obsolete for 14 years and no longer supported
To get back into your back-end the process is here:

Did you use https://docs.joomla.org/J1.5:How_do_you ... assword%3F to reset the password?

Re: No access to backend
Thanks webdongle, i uploaded it and keep getting: ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS.
Trying it localy when it finishes downloading.
I have so far tried:
1.Log into phpMyAdmin and navigate to the jos_plugins table.Look for the "User - Joomla!" and Joomla - Authentication.Ensure that both of them are published(set it to 1).
2.In the php.ini, set session.use_cookies = 1. If you are not allowed to edit your php.ini file then simply create a file called php.ini and stored it on your root folder.
3.Make sure all your folders have correct directory permissions( 755 is the advisable permission level for folders).
4.Clean all session (in table jos_session through phpMyAdmin)
5. Edited a Super admin, saved pass as md5, Created a new user, same results, works on frontend but not administration page.
Trying it localy when it finishes downloading.

Re: No access to backend
There are many things showing as potential problems but I think the most important is your server is running php 8.2 while Joomla 1.5 won't work above php version 5.3 (also long out-of-support).
See if your host offers php 5.3. (Sorry, just noticed you were running the server yourself.)

With Xamp you can not change php very easily, use wampserver where you can change anything on the fly like php mysql etc.https://wampserver.aviatechno.net/?lang=en

LiveSite: Is Not Empty ... should be '' (two single quotation marks with nothing between them).
php version is too high you need Wamp https://wampserver.aviatechno.net/ NOT xampp to change php/database versions on the fly.

Re: No access to backend
I am trying j15.26 on wamp
php 5.6.40 need to edit php.ini (cant find 5.2 for my version of wamp. There may be another localhost will see)
Line 474 --- display_errors = Off ... to ... display_errors = Off
Mysql and MariaDB both 5.5.62
Got the first page of install up so far
Addendum
have installed J15.26
When you have your site set on localhost I can tell you which database tables to check and their values.
btw
Sometime after J1.5 was eol a zero day vulnerability was found. There was no official patch but there was an unofficial one.

php version is too high you need Wamp https://wampserver.aviatechno.net/ NOT xampp to change php/database versions on the fly.

Re: No access to backend
Updated as you stated livesite in configuration.php
I installed and changed to 5.5.62 mariadb and mysql, then php 5.6.40 and php myadmin 4.9.11 ( newer version does not support php 5.6).
Now i get a HTTP ERROR 500 and the apache error log does not show any errors in the log.
Appreciate your time and help!.

Re: No access to backend
Run the fpa again please. J1.5 is running on my wamp. It could be a 3rd arty plugin wanting a lower php. I am struggling to find a localhost with a lower php

Re: No access to backend
hmmm
Have you checked the following?
php 5.6.40 need to edit php.ini (cant find 5.2 for my version of wamp. There may be another localhost will see)
Line 474 --- display_errors = Off ... to ... display_errors = Off
Mysql and MariaDB both 5.5.62
Also create a \test folder in Wamp's \www folder and put the fpa in there. If it runs in that folder then it's something in your site causing the problem. If not the something about your wamp set up.
It is getting to the stage where it will be quicker/easier to create a site using J5.
Addendum
Someone pm'd me https://www.uwamp.com/en/?page=download
An older version might have a lower php?

Re: No access to backend
The current/latest version of the FPA will not work with Joomla 1.5/PHP 5.6. You need to find a compatible version of the FPA that works with Joomla 1.5.

Re: No access to backend
I can get a older version fpa to run on wamp localhost, having issues with its connection to Mysql DB though.
But then figured it would be better to try and run it on the site.
I dont think they can afford a new site unless someone does it for free, i could, but would be a bit uneasy with moving over the public users to a new version and db.
It is a private water well organisation providing water to the area.
Alot of old people that cant re-register and all that.
I would gladly pay you something Webdongle to take a look at it, if we cant get this to work via the forum.
Here is my output from fpa on the site using a older version:
With this line above the output:
Warning: file_exists() [function.file-exists]: open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/var/www/clients/i57765/skoerpinge-vand.dk/log/php_error.log) is not within the allowed path(s): (/var/www/clients/i57765/skoerpinge-vand.dk/web:/var/www/skoerpinge-vand.dk/web:/var/www/clients/i57765/skoerpinge-vand.dk/tmp:/var/www/clients/i57765/skoerpinge-vand.dk/secure_folder:/var/www/i123_scripts) in /var/www/clients/i57765/skoerpinge-vand.dk/web/fpa-en.php on line 543

Re: No access to backend
Do you mean the Sign In popup, shown below, that has been configured using the option Files - Directory Privacy in the cPanel or a similar page, provided by your host?
The back end login page of Joomla 1.5 looks like this:
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Re: No access to backend
Yes that is the login i get when accessing the url /administrator.
So you are saying it is a configuration thing on my hosts side, and maybe not the website.
Thanks, will look into that tomorrow morning.

Re: No access to backend
The first screenshot is a result of ".htaccess" asking for login details and as already mentioned likely set up through your webhost.
(This can also be done with various Joomla extensions such as Akeeba Admin Tools (but seems unlikely you're using that on J1.5)).
You should be able to find the password and username for that in a file called ".htpasswd" likely sitting in the /administrator folder. Browse to that folder with your web hosts File Manager, or an FTP program. It's a text file, and can be opened in Windows Notepad (or equivalent).
You should be able to to simply turn off that folder protection function in cPanel or similar.

Re: No access to backend
In addition to the web server, the extra level of login protection can also be configured in an .htaccess and .htpasswd files, or even using a Joomla extension like Akeeba Admin Tools. Your site does not have either of them, therefore the only option is the web server.
