Need church membership database component

Hello,

I would think that keeping track of a couple hundred names, addresses, tel and email would be a natural. Not, so, or at least I can't find it.

Essential Features:
Front-end brief table display of list of names, tel, birthday, anniversary, perhaps one or two category fields.
Click on col headings to sort by that column.
Click on hyperlinked name to see all the details for that individual person.
Back-end editing of each, perhaps a CSV import of initial data.

Nice-to-have features:
Several categories like member, board member, non-member, past member, committee memberships.
Multiple categories ... a member can also be an officer, also a member of several committees.

Closest component I could find was QContacts, but that doesn't provide birthday or anniversary. The custom fields it provides are in the email form ... that I don't care about.

This is a pro-bono site I'm doing, so I'd like an economical solution if possible.

Is there anything out there that comes close to what I need?

Thanks,
Alan

Try Community Builder. It seems to fit all of your requirements.

You'll need CBJuice to import the initial data.

Another vote for Community BUilder, although I'm not sure if it provides the table listing feature.

On a different note, I would at least give the members the possibility to opt-in/opt-out of displaying personal data like birthday and phone numbers. Not everybody will be happy having those online. Personally, I would even go as far as not including these options on the front-end at all. But it might be just me!

Many thanks, I'll take a look at Community Builder and report back. Sure hope it has a table-view available.

My intention was to have the list viewable ONLY by logging in, and that only by elected officers. I'm still a bit new at Joomla, and I'm assuming that a Registered User can log in, then see the restricted navigation menu item, click that to see the list.

Like you, I'd be a tad upset to have data viewable by the public at large!

CB can restrict the list to registered or admins only.

Sorry, but CB is way too much overkill for my simple database display.

I could easily solve the problem with PHP and MySQL ...
When registered user clicks the menu tab, off we go to invoke script to show the data just the way I want it. That would be out of the Joomla environment, and I'm not quite sure how I'd get back. Should be doable, but I'd prefer having a component that does it.

If I can't find something, I suppose I could do my own component. I already did "hello, world" component, but I don't know enough about Joomla to do the database display.

I can edit the relatively-static membership list and sweep it quickly into a MySQL table. The problem then becomes a mater of display, and there should be a component to do that. I wonder if there's a db component out there that could handle showing details when the name hyperlink gets clicked.

Still looking for solution ...
