Joomla Gaming League

Post by mh080756 » Sun Feb 06, 2011 7:29 pm

Hello everyone! This has been boggling my mind for days now and I'm completely stuck. I have tried finding sources and other bits of information to help me solve my problem but have turn up unsuccessful.

What I would like to have on my Joomla site is a custom registration form where users will sign up. Then once logged in users will have the options of editing their profile, creating a team, or joining a team. I want each team to have its own page with a view of the roster. Also I would like to incorporate a way to be able to schedule matches between the two teams.

my current website is http://hickswillfix.com/UGLeague1/

an example of what I'm looking for is this

I know this is probably alot, but I'm really just looking for words of encouragement or ideas and a push in the right direction....

This will probably take me ages to complete.

Have you looked at using the community builder extension? Ive used it in the past and i rekon you could do most of what you said above

I think you need to revisit Community Builder. On it's own it wont let you build groups the way you want, but that's where something like GroupJive comes in. Users can create, edit, groups that can be public or private.

Additionally, CB Subs would allow you to create paid access and memebership levels if you provided premium content for features.

The only thing I can't think through right of the top of my head, is scheduling game play. But that doesn't seem impossible. I believe the groups can share a calendar.

The only thing about the groupjive component, is the latest news article on their site is from Aug '09. So maybe there is now something better out there that is currently giving support.

Joomsocial is the other option, though it's pad. I'm sure they have a groups feature.

Good Luck!
