What happened to J! 1.5.27

Post by AlexSmirnov » Mon May 27, 2013 1:26 pm

Hi there,

Can anyone explain what happened with J! 1.5.27 release? As far as I remember, it was released as a security release for version 1.5.26 but for some reasons it is missing at joomlacode.org.

Cheers,

Alex

What about this: http://www.proinsurer.com.ua/downloads/ ... able-patch
Is that something realiable??? Could even be a trojan horse, but the website looks good...

[choosing words carefully and as a personal opinion]
i would not use the 1.5.27 upgrade on any of my sites (similar thing happened with the rumoured 1.0.16 releases.
see http://joomlacode.org/gf/project/joomla ... m_id=31626 for the " official " discussion on the community patch

Right! And, translating that webite it appears that it's not a safety upgrade. It looks like not important upgrade.

It says:
Joomla Pro 1.5.26 to 1.5.27 Stable-Patch
Release of the first update c v1.5.26 to v1.5.27 (for joomla v1.5), that developers no longer officially supported.

The main differences - tried a little speed up loading of admin, by deleting unnecessary graphics files when adminki.Takzhe slightly changed interface for minimalism proinsurer and cleaned meta tag generator (<meta name = "generator" content = "Joomla! 1.5 - Open Source Content Management "/>).

Change the appearance of the entrance to the admin site, made more concise.

What about this patch then? It is a patch for 1.5.26. Nobody named it 1.5.27, but it is the patch for 1.5.26!
And it looks official enough for me!

That specific patch came out after 1.5 was already out of support. That's the reason it was never added to a release.

Well, thanks be to anything-digital.com for their security patch for J! 1.5.26.

I personally managed to finally migrate my client to version 2.5, but for those who still run on 1.5, updating to version 1.5.26 and applying the patch from "Anything Digital" is a must. I rest my case.

In addition to the patch, also remove the unsecure Flash Uploader from the system (uploader.swf under the media folder).
