Transferring 1.5.x sites to view offline on a PC

I have two ancient website running under Joomla 1.5.26 that I want to retire from my ISP but install them on my Windows PC to be able to view offline (for no other reason than nostalgia) - I have access to the ISP and all files, databases etc - it's how to do it that foxes me!

Can anyone help me with a simple way to do it please? - or point me to some easy-to-follow instructions! I've seen various options but a) some of it is beyond my immediate knowledge, and b) there seem to be a number of different software products.

Thanks

Rob

I don't know about other browsers, but Chrome will save each individual page for you - it saves the html of the page, and if you choose "html complete" it will create a subfolder where it puts all the necessary files such as the css and the images for that page. Just open a page in Chrome, right-click and choose "Save as...".
The saved page can then be viewed in Chrome (and perhaps in other browsers, never tested that).

Hi,

Did you check on Wayback Machine ? https://web.archive.org/

If your site was online, it should contain copies of it.

Other solution: create your local copy using a wamp server with the correct php version. Too difficult ?

Yebbut, I want to see the site as it was and there are quite a few Joomla components that do stuff.

The sites are still live albeit with the ancient Joomla version - I've just downloaded WAMP and will install that to see what happens after that with the "copy & paste" process . . .

Check Joomla 1.5 requirements from https://downloads.joomla.org/technical-requirements. You can download PHP 5.3 from https://sourceforge.net/projects/wampse ... ddons/Php/. The rest of the installation process is documented at http://forum.wampserver.com/read.php?2,138295.

You may be able to find an old version of Akeeba Backup, install it on 1.5 and transfer the old site to your localhost in one go.
